Overview

The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is a standardized language examination designed to evaluate and certify the Japanese proficiency of non-native speakers. Managed by the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES), the JLPT assesses abilities in reading, listening, and comprehension. It is recognized globally as a benchmark for Japanese language proficiency, serving both academic and professional purposes. Conducted in over 80 countries worldwide, the JLPT offers five levels (N1 to N5), with N1 being the most advanced level.

Candidates who successfully pass higher levels of the JLPT, particularly N1 or N2, gain qualifications that can enhance opportunities for academic pursuits, employment, or immigration in Japan. Many universities and organizations recognize these certifications as proof of Japanese language skills, making the JLPT a valuable credential for students, professionals, and language enthusiasts aiming to work or study in Japan.
